About Petronet LNG Limited

Petronet LNG Limited is one of the fastest growing world-class Public Limited Company in the Indian energy sector.

The Company had set up South East Asia's first LNG Receiving and Regasification Terminal with an original nameplate capacity of 5 MMTPA at Dahej, Gujarat. The infrastructure was developed in the shortest possible time and at a benchmark cost. The capacity of the terminal has been expanded in phases to 17.5 MMTPA. We have also set up another terminal at Kochi, Kerala having a nominal capacity of 5 MMTPA. The company is also exploring suitable opportunities within and outside India to expand its business presence.

  • Dahej LNG Terminal - Located at Dahej in Gujarat in the Gulf of Cambay, commenced operations in 2004. Terminal existing name plate capacity is 17.5 MMTPA. As of date, terminal has handled more than 2700 cargoes. Terminal has 6 LNG storage tanks along with other vaporization facilities and two LNG Jetties. Terminal can handle berthing of up to Q-Max vessels. Terminal meets almost 40% of India’s gas requirement and around 75-80% of LNG imports in the country. Truck loading facility can handle 14,000 loadings/ year.
  • Kochi LNG Terminal – Located at Cochin Port in Kerala, commenced operations in 2013. Terminal existing name plate capacity is 5 MMTPA. As of date, terminal has handled around 80 cargoes. Terminal has 2 LNG storage tanks along with other vaporization facilities and one LNG Jetty. The jetty can handle berthing of up to Q-Flex vessels. This terminal provides following additional facilities:
    • LNG bunkering
    • LNG reloading
    • LNG storage
    • Gassing Up and Cooling Down for LNG vessels
    • Truck loading
    • LNG Academy for Training

LNG Vessel Information: PLL has three long term chartered vessels that are engaged in transportation of LNG under long term SPA with Qatar Gas from Ras Laffan, Qatar. PLL also owns equity in one LNG tanker engaged in transportation of LNG under long term SPA with Exxon Mobil from Gorgon, Australia.

PLL is expanding its horizon through new business initiatives.

  • Third Jetty proposed at Dahej LNG Terminal
  • Use of LNG as automotive fuel. Launched 1st LNG bus in November 2016. Operating 4 LNG fuelled buses for its employees in Dahej and Kochi.
  • Use of LNG as fuel for fishing boats in Kochi, Kerala. Conversion of one diesel powered fishing boat to dual fuel (LNG + Diesel) has been completed in Marche 2021.
  • Formed a wholly owned subsidiary Petronet Energy Limited to undertake the business activities viz. Gassing up & Cool down, supply of heel quantity to LNG vessels, LNG bunkering, Training, Consultancy and other value-added marine services.

As a member we highly appreciate the overall knowledge and guidance provided by SIGTTO in the matters affecting the industry such as legislation, IMO, technical or operational developments. Information gathered from various SIGTTO publications has been very helpful while designing/constructing of our LNG terminals and their successful operations. SIGTTO’s vast network and data base complement the very purpose of the Society to promote shipping and terminal operations for liquefied gases which are safe, environmentally responsible and reliable. Looking forward to continuing the fruitful association with SIGTTO in the coming years.
